From standard framing and finish work to decks and railings, I offer a wide range of styles and finishes. Competitive pricing and locally sourced wood make timber-framing and sustainability accessible. I avoid plastic or petroleum-based products whenever possible.

DESIGN: For twenty years I taught college-level design and drawing, helping students get their ideas onto paper. Making design decisions amid an endless sea of choices can be daunting, so I try to bring equal measures of enjoyment, expressiveness, knowledge and pragmatism to the process, helping people understand what’s possible and why. From formal plans ready for an engineer’s stamp to simple rendered drawings, I can help get your vision onto the page and into the world.
REPAIR: People often assume I’m not open to small jobs and repair work—but I really love to be active in my community, fixing and restoring what I can. Replacing windows, repairing siding, smoothing out sliding door issues, and other fixes—get in touch! I’m happy to help or consult. Please text me for rates and bids on larger jobs.

Fences, screens, planters, arbors, and gates all help make your garden and outdoors a spectacular place to be in. Lately, I’ve been using weaving principles and repurposing high-end wastewood from local mills that would otherwise be burned or discarded. This allows me to use striking, rot-resistant woods from near and far to better prolong outdoor structures’ lives.

I love creating dry, livable spaces that extend the joys of our outdoor season. Open-air kitchens, backyard bars, pavilions, gazebos, hot tub enclosures, carports—structures that help us appreciate the Pacific Northwest’s rainy glory—are some of my favorite builds. A comfortable place to gather by an outdoor fire makes everyone happy. And while I love some of these fancy builds, I’m happy to help with a simple shed or woodshed too.

This structure was created with the people of Periscope woodcraft.
High on a terrace overlooking the sound.
This combination RV shed/Woodshed and workshop was a clean build using metal bracing over traditional joinery.
My favorite build so far in 24'. This road side library bookshop was an absolute blast.
The furniture I build and the products I use are locally sourced, taking advantage of the incredible bounty of our region. I like to use natural-edged maple and local Doug fir to produce a range of designs, from formal to rustic. Whether you’re looking to add built-ins, commission stand-alone pieces or a customized matching set, or simply repair some well-loved furniture, I look forward to working with you. (Some of the work pictured here was produced with the help of Periscope Woodcraft.)

I’ve been carving for 35 years, and I really enjoy bringing this skill and craft into projects of all sizes and scopes. Wood sculptures, properly treated and elevated, can live outdoors for many years in the Northwest—or kept inside and enjoyed for generations. From customized tools to hand-carved lighting fixtures, woodcarving can make the simple extraordinary. I’m fascinated with all sorts of carving, but I have a special love for the expressionist and regional art of the 1930s. I also love geometric midcentury modernist work.
